What are some challenges of collecting mobile video?

If you're collecting footage filmed on a mobile phone you need to get a usable version of the file for your team to edit. Most people are used to sending video to their friends and family through text message or email but these methods are not applicable for professional video production.

The problem with emailing video content is that these programs have a tendency to down-res the file to 960 x 540 or worse which makes editing all but impossible because of how grainy the file now is.

Using tools like Dropbox or Google Drive are better methods for sharing this type of content. Dropbox has a mobile app which can allow you to directly upload footage from your phone to your Dropbox account and share it with your team. This type of workflow ensures that your editors get the same full resolution footage you recorded on your phone.
