Hardware bottlenecks in the video workflow

So what causes the bottleneck in your video workflow?

There's going to be two things that are going to cause bottlenecks your connection to where your media is stored and where your media is stored.

So if you have a thunderbolt 3 connection to a RAID directly on your workstation that Thunderbolt 3 Connection has a bandwidth of 40 gigabits per second plenty for the vast majority of workflows.

4 gigabytes per second is crazy fast if that RAID set on the other side of that connection is only for drives. You're probably only going to be pushing like 6-8 hundred megabytes per second. Nowhere near that 40 gigabit per second speed of that cable the same goes for network storage.

If you're on you know, a 1 gigabit connection and you are connected to a 16-bay SSD server that can push 6-8 gigabytes per second. But you only have one gigabit connection. You're going to be getting maybe a hundred and ten megabytes per second.

So your main concern when you're looking for where your bottlenecks are going to be either the connection or the device you're connected to.
