Which server hardware can cause bottlenecks?

So what kind of potential bottlenecks would I have when editing? The network could be one thing part of the server with the the drives your footage what not.

The biggest thing to me is the software and the workstation. So depending on what software you’re using that could leverage different parts of the workstation itself.

  • In Premiere the CPU is going to be leveraged more than anything.
  • In After Effects, The GPU is going to be leveraged.
  • In Resolve, it's going to be a little bit more of GPU than CPU depending on what I'm going to be doing.

So it really depends but generally anything like an i7 processor or higher is what I would be aiming for mostly because you need the power to be pushing the edits and layering and all your effects and rendering and whatnot.

So it's going to be more the hardware than anything from what I see.
